Descent From the Cross is another in my series ILLUMINATION. Painted with authentic Egg Tempera paint on goatskin parchment, I also applied 24k double gold leaf, making the image “Illuminated”. Jesus is depicted larger than the other figures, who twist and lament in sorrow. He is surrounded by a field of the color Blue, a color associated with heavenly people and things. The scene is enclosed on all sides by the luminous Green of Malachite, placing it firmly within the Earthly Realm. The artwork is mounted on dark brown acid-free paper. A cream-colored mat board encloses the piece, with interior measurements of 13.5” x 10.5”, and exterior measurements of 20” x 16”.
A clear protective plastic sleeve covers the art.
