A pandemic painting created during the first six weeks of the Pandemic Lock-down (six weeks) during spring 2020. Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s “Masque of the Red Death”, the scene depicted is the first room of a macabre party described by Poe: the Blue Room. The scene shows an elite party given by Prince Prospero for his elite friends only. The central Marie-Antoinette figure is blinded to outside suffering, as she holds her hands to stop the peasants from entering. A gargoyle below the window further discourages any unwanted visitors.
